Welcome

Dear families,

Thank you for taking the time to view our website. On behalf of the staff, children and trustees, I would like to welcome you to our school. I hope that this website will provide you with some helpful information and also an insight into the values and aims of our school.

We hope that it will give you an overview of Royal Wharf Primary School which is a brand new school that opened in September 2019. In our first year of opening, Royal Wharf reception pupils had their learning space at Britannia Village Primary School. From September 2020 we have moved into our brand new school building and have Nursery, Reception, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4 pupils. We feel extremely privileged to have a very beautiful building with amazing facilities.

Royal Wharf Primary School forms part of the Britannia Education Trust and we have close links with Britannia Village Primary School; we therefore share their core values of inclusion, creativity and excellence.  Our school is a thriving multi-cultural community which promotes a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment.  We aim to develop confident, successful, responsible pupils who are able to take ownership of their learning and become increasingly independent as they grow older.  By the time children leave our primary school they are equipped with the skills they need to contribute positively to their community and to be productive global citizens.  We have high expectations for ourselves and our pupils which are supported by the commitment of our parents and carers.

We believe that children learn best through opportunities which are creative, motivating and challenging.  We therefore provide a thematic curriculum with challenging topics that enable our pupils to have an understanding of how a wide range of historical, social, cultural, scientific and environmental factors have shaped the world they live in today.  In other words to develop their understanding of how past events, beliefs, values and attitudes have influenced the way in which we have arrived at our present position in the 21st century and how we may move forward in the future.  The curriculum is enriched by music, art, dance, drama and educational visits that make extensive use of London’s rich heritage.

We actively promote a healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise and an awareness of healthy eating choices.  We provide gymnastics, dance and P.E. activities. Our school has the benefit of an amazing rooftop multi-use games area.

Our school has made a substantial investment in ICT.  All of our classrooms have interactive whiteboards and in Years 2 - 6 our pupils each have a Chromebook, allowing them instant access to Google Suite.  Our teachers are well-trained in the use of ICT meaning that we are able to demonstrate excellent classroom practice as well as facilitate learning beyond the school day; this was reflected in the extensive online learning provided by our teachers during the recent lockdown.  In recognition of our excellent use of software, we have been recognised as a Google Reference School.

We very much look forward to getting to know you and to working with you. A very warm welcome to Royal Wharf Primary School.

Best wishes

Mr Kiel Richardson
